Former China Securities Watchdog Official Sentenced for Bribery

A former official at China’s top securities regulator was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday for bribery, according to a court statement.
The court also fined Yang Chunlei, a former deputy director at an inspection unit at the China Securities Regulatory Commission, 400,000 yuan ($59,000). Illicit gains were ordered confiscated.
The case is part of Beijing’s continuing anti-corruption campaign targeting the financial sector, which has ensnared regulators and executives in recent years.
