Chery-Backed Joint Venture Launches Micro-EV Brand in Japan

A joint venture backed by Chinese automaker Chery Automobile Co. Ltd. has launched a new electric vehicle brand designed specifically for the Japanese market, with plans to roll out its first China-made micro-EV in 2027.
Singapore-based Electric Mobility Technology (EMT) introduced the brand, EMTA, on Wednesday. The venture’s shareholders include Chinese state-owned enterprise Jiangsu Yueda Automobile Group Co. Ltd., battery maker Gotion High-tech Co. Ltd., and Japanese firms Autobacs Seven and ANEST IWATA Corporation
