Cambodia began a four-month visa-free trial for Chinese citizens on June 15, allowing Chinese tourists to stay in the country for as long as 14 days, as Phnom Penh seeks to revive arrivals from what was once its biggest source of foreign visitors.

Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak said the visa waiver was an important friendly signal to Chinese tourists. Authorities hope to attract at least 600,000 Chinese visitors during the four-month pilot period, he said.
