Listen to the full version

China recorded increases in domestic tourist trips and tourism spending during the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday, as travelers increasingly sought immersive experiences and relief from the heat.
However, spending per trip was little changed, suggesting consumers remain selective about discretionary purchases amid economic uncertainty.
China recorded 124 million domestic tourist trips during the three-day holiday that ended Sunday, up 4.4% year-on-year. Total domestic tourism spending reached nearly 44.5 billion yuan ($6.6 billion), up 4% from the previous year, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Average spending per trip stood at 358.5 yuan, essentially unchanged from last year.
