Solid-State Battery Tech Far From Mass Production, CATL Chairman Says

Solid-state battery technology is still far from being ready for mass production, according to the head of the world’s largest electric-vehicle battery maker.

“If technology readiness is graded on a scale from one to nine, current solid-state battery technology is still at level four, whereas level nine represents a mature technological pathway that is ready for mass production,” Zeng Yuqun, chairman of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL), said Tuesday at the Summer Davos in Dalian.
