China’s main automotive battery industry group is preparing to set up a national patent pool, aiming to strengthen intellectual property protection and help domestic manufacturers defend against a growing wave of overseas litigation.

As Chinese companies dominate the global market for electric-vehicle and energy-storage batteries, a centralized IP defense mechanism could help them counter legal challenges from foreign rivals seeking to slow their overseas expansion.
