In a bid to improve the quality of end-of-life treatment, Beijing will incorporate palliative care into its basic medical insurance starting July 11, aiming to bridge a massive supply-and-demand gap in terminal care.
All medical institutions across the city will charge a unified rate of 200 yuan ($29.5) a day for hospice services, which will be fully covered under the Class A payment category of the public health insurance system.
