Listen to the full version

China has released a national safety standard for driver assistance systems, laying the regulatory groundwork for the large-scale commercialization of smart vehicles.
The standard, which was released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last week and is set to take effect on Jan. 1 2027, lays out safety requirements for three types of driver assistance systems: basic single-lane systems, basic multi-lane systems and navigation-assisted systems. It also specifies rules covering functions, data recording, vehicle manufacturer safety guarantees, human-machine interaction, user instructions and user training.
