Chinese food-delivery giant Meituan said it has laid off fewer than 2,000 employees over the past two months, after workers described broad staff cuts across multiple business lines.

The company told Caixin the departures represent a small share of its workforce, which stood at 110,000 in 2025. Several employees, however, described the reductions, which began in early May, as Meituan’s largest personnel adjustment in recent years.
