Graft Probe in Shenzhen Ensnares Second United Front Chief in Two Weeks

Wang Qiang, a senior political figure in the southern Chinese tech hub of Shenzhen, has turned himself in to anti-graft authorities, marking the second downfall of a city-level United Front Work Department chief in just over two weeks.
The Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervisory Commission announced on July 17 that Wang, a member of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Standing Committee and head of its United Front Work Department, is undergoing disciplinary review and supervisory investigation. The brief official notice stated that the 60-year-old official had “voluntarily surrendered.”
