China’s Vaccine Doses Plunge to Record Low Amid Demographic Crisis

China’s vaccine doses fell to a record low in 2025, dropping below 400 million for the first time as a plunging birth rate undercuts a cornerstone of the country’s pharmaceutical sector.

Data released by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention show that only 399 million vaccine doses were administered nationwide last year, excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
