Veterinary Programs Outpace Some Medical Degrees in China’s College Admissions

Admission scores for five-year clinical-medicine programs at some Chinese universities have fallen sharply this year, while veterinary medicine and degree programs with clearer employment paths have gained popularity, signaling a shift in how students and families assess the value of a medical career.

New admissions data from provinces including Shandong, Jiangsu and Guangdong show that applicants are increasingly favoring programs that offer more certain job prospects, including military and police academies, subsidized teacher-training degrees and medical programs tied to service commitments.
