China has appointed its top market regulator, Luo Wen, as the new Communist Party secretary of Hebei province. The move, announced Friday, places a seasoned technocrat with deep experience in industrial policy and market oversight at the helm of a key northern industrial hub.

Luo succeeds Ni Yuefeng, who will be reassigned to another position, the official Xinhua News Agency reported. Both men are 61 years old and are full members of the 20th Central Committee, the elite political body of the Communist Party of China.
