A former district court president in the southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu has been expelled from the Communist Party and dismissed from public office for a raft of corruption charges, including the highly unusual offense of secretly holding a practicing lawyer’s certificate while on the bench.

Disciplinary authorities announced the expulsion of Wang Zexuan on Wednesday. Wang Zexuan, 57, previously served as the president and head of the Communist Party group at the Chenghua District Court in Chengdu. He was first placed under investigation in December 2025.
