Manus is set to return to operating as an independent company as some of its former investors bought the AI-agent startup back from Meta Platforms Inc. for $2 billion, following Chinese regulators’ order to unwind the acquisition

Tencent Holdings Ltd., ZhenFund and HSG are among the investors who bought back the company, according to a person close to Manus. U.S. venture capital firm Benchmark, which had been Manus’s largest shareholder before the Meta deal, did not participate. Tencent acquired Benchmark’s former stake and has become Manus’s largest shareholder, the person said.
