China Blocks EU Probe of JD.com’s Takeover of German Retailer

China has banned domestic entities from assisting with an EU probe into e-commerce giant JD.com Inc.’s proposed takeover of a German electronics retailer.
In an announcement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Justice said that the cross-border investigation under the bloc’s Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) constitutes “unjustified extraterritorial jurisdiction” measures, ordering that “no organization or individual may execute or assist in its execution.”
