Hefei, the Chinese manufacturing powerhouse dubbed the country’s Venture Capital City, has appointed a former corporate executive and security official as its new Communist Party chief, marking the city’s third leader in two and a half years following a high-profile corruption scandal.

On Sunday, the provincial government of Anhui announced that Qin Weiguo will take over as Hefei’s top official. The appointment fills a three-month vacancy left by Fei Gaoyun, who was placed under investigation for severe disciplinary and legal violations in May.
