Brazil Fines ByteDance $30 Million Over TikTok’s Handling of Minors’ Data

Brazil’s data privacy regulator fined TikTok parent ByteDance 153.7 million reais ($29.6 million) for violating rules governing the handling of minors’ personal data.
The National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) announced the penalty on Tuesday and ordered the short-video platform to delete improperly collected data and adopt a compliance plan aimed at strengthening protections for children and teenagers.
