China Vanke Co. Ltd. reported a net loss of 16 billion yuan ($2.4 billion) for the first half of 2026, as falling property sales and thinner project margins deepened the developer’s financial strain.

The wider loss highlights the prolonged stress in China’s property sector and raises fresh questions about Vanke’s ability to manage a liquidity squeeze and heavy near-term debt maturities in a market that has yet to show clear signs of recovery.
