Xi and Putin Pledge Deeper Coordination at SCO Summit in Bishkek

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to deepen strategic coordination and bolster the Shanghai Cooperation Organization amid global uncertainty, during a bilateral meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Monday afternoon.

Held on the sidelines of the 2026 SCO summit, the meeting highlighted closer alignment between Beijing and Moscow as both seek to navigate a more volatile international environment. Putin described the relationship as a model of state-to-state ties, citing growth in bilateral trade as well as cooperation in energy and technology.
