China’s top securities watchdog has proposed stringent new rules for the private fund industry, significantly raising wealth and experience thresholds for investors while tightening oversight on fundraising practices.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) published the draft rules on Friday to seek public feedback, reinforcing the principle that sellers must perform strict due diligence while buyers bear their own investment risks.
