Hong Kong’s anti-corruption agency has charged two former Alipay employees and their wives with conspiracy to defraud the company by dishonestly awarding a software development contract to a developer they controlled.

The case highlights corporate governance and conflict-of-interest risks within Alipay subsidiaries, as the former employees hid their marital ties to siphon commissions from a medical booking business processed through the digital payment platform.
