China’s latest inflation prints have delivered a clear message: prices are marching upward again.

According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Sept. 9, the consumer price index rose 0.8% year-over-year in August, accelerating from July’s 0.5% and matching market expectations.

Meanwhile, the producer price index jumped 3.8% year-over-year, outpacing forecasts and significantly higher than the previous month’s 3.5%.
