Chinese Intelligence Chief Outlines Regulatory and Strategic Responses to Emerging AI Threats

China’s top intelligence official has declared artificial intelligence the primary battlefield of global technological competition, warning that the rapid proliferation of the technology poses a severe threat to the country’s political security, cybersecurity and military defense.

In a comprehensive manifesto published in the state-run China Cyberspace magazine, Minister of State Security Chen Yixin outlined a hard-line strategy to govern the booming sector. Chen explicitly called out advanced models developed by U.S. technology companies and accused foreign intelligence agencies of exploiting AI to steal state secrets and launch cognitive warfare against Beijing.
