Hong Kong is stepping up efforts to position itself as the overseas launchpad for Chinese mainland companies, with mainland firms accounting for nearly 60% of the businesses its investment-promotion agency helped set up or expand in the city in the first half of 2026.
Invest Hong Kong assisted 413 companies in the first six months of the year, projects expected to bring more than HK$53 billion ($6.8 billion) of investment. Of those, 246 were from the Chinese mainland.
