Two major Chinese state-owned carmakers are moving to consolidate their resources in a push to revive growth in the country’s competitive auto market.
Under an agreement of intent signed on Monday, Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. Ltd. (GAC) will acquire “part of the equity interest” in a certain vehicle manufacturing joint venture held by FAW Group Co. Ltd. and raise supporting funds through the issuance of A shares, according to an exchange filing.
