An elite medical student at Southern Medical University plunged to his death earlier this week, reigniting nationwide concerns over the intense academic and professional pressures burdening China’s young medical trainees.
The student, enrolled in a prestigious eight-year combined bachelor-to-doctorate clinical medicine program, died early Tuesday after falling from a high-rise dormitory at the university’s Baiyun campus in Guangzhou.
