Hong Kong-listed Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. unveiled a new artificial intelligence chip as chief executive Eddie Wu set out the company’s long-term strategy to invest heavily in AI models, semiconductors and cloud infrastructure.

The launch underscores Alibaba’s capital-intensive push to build infrastructure for an AI-driven economy, as the e-commerce company seeks to meet rising demand for computing power and strengthen its position in AI.
