U.K. Climate Envoy Sees Room for Deeper Carbon-Market Cooperation With China

The U.K.’s climate envoy sees significant room for cooperation with China on carbon markets, green technologies and power-sector reforms as countries build increasingly interconnected systems for pricing emissions.

Rachel Kyte, the U.K. Special Representative for Climate, called the growth of China’s carbon market over the past five years “inspiring,” saying its emergence as the world’s largest carbon market in such a short period offers an important lesson for countries only beginning to develop their own systems.
