Huawei, Qualcomm reach patent licensing agreement
Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and Qualcomm Inc. announced a multiyear patent cross-licensing agreement on Monday covering 5G, computing, AI and networking technologies. Qualcomm will also acquire certain Huawei U.S. patents involving computing, AI and networking technologies. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals. This marks the first time Qualcomm will pay patent fees to Huawei. The Chinese company said that the total value of its patent licensing agreements, including this deal, will exceed $6.9 billion. Qualcomm said that claims that the agreement involves logic folding chip technology are untrue.
