China’s exports rose 36.3% year-on-year in September, the second-fastest pace of 2026, as the global artificial intelligence boom lifted technology shipments and automakers appeared to accelerate deliveries to the European Union ahead of expected trade restrictions.

The stronger-than-expected performance pushed the monthly trade surplus to a record $133.5 billion, underscoring how AI-related demand and the front-loading of shipments are sustaining export growth.
