Former Central South University President Indicted on Bribery Charges

Former Central South University President Zhang Yaoxue has been indicted on bribery charges and will stand trial in the eastern Chinese city of Anqing, prosecutors said, nearly a year after he was placed under investigation.

Zhang, a prominent computer scientist and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is accused of using a series of senior posts at the Ministry of Education and Central South University to seek benefits for others in exchange for illegally accepting property, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate said Tuesday.
