Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.’s automotive spinoff has partnered with battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) (300750.SZ) to develop automated battery swapping, as two of China’s biggest auto suppliers seek to deepen their ties with carmakers amid intensifying competition.

Yinwang Intelligent Technologies Co. Ltd. and CATL said Monday they would jointly develop an intelligent battery-swapping ecosystem for electric vehicles (EVs). CATL’s battery-swapping subsidiary will also participate in the partnership.
