High-paying job openings in artificial intelligence are driving Chinese professionals to AI training programs, fueling an industry projected to reach 32 billion yuan ($4.8 billion) this year.

The rush to upskill comes as a changing labor market drives workplace anxiety among fresh graduates, mid-career professionals and managers. It also aligns with a State Council guideline published on Oct. 23, aimed at maximizing AI’s potential for job creation and empowering traditional roles while mitigating the risks of workforce displacement.

Some training providers are already cashing in on the boom. Jiangsu Chuanzhiboke Education Technology Co. Ltd. (003032.SZ), the first listed company in China’s vocational education sector, swung to a net profit of 77.7 million yuan in the first three quarters of 2026, recovering from an 8.5 million yuan loss a year earlier, according to its latest earnings report.
