(Shanghai) – Sounds of tourist excitement have replaced construction clamor in Shanghai, where the 2010 World Expo opened May 1 to showcase China's 30 years of economic growth and the planet's future prospects.

The five-month Expo is buzzing with edgy technology, innovative products and cultural delights. It's also riding on solid support from the Chinese and municipal governments, which see the Expo as an economic opportunity as well as a vehicle for urban development.
