Baidu Caught in Copyright Clash with Writers

(Beijing) -- Chinese Internet search engine giant Baidu.com has seen its relationship with the country's famous writers worsen after negotiations on copyright disputes collapsed.

Lu Jinbo, a representative for publishers and the manager of Wanrong Books, wrote on his blog March 24 that a 4-hour negotiation between a consortium of publishers and writers, and Baidu failed to result in any agreement. Lu wrote that Baidu rejected all requests made by the publishers, including a public apology and compensation for losses.
