Industry Experience Stands Up to State Grid

(Beijing) – A hardboiled group of electrical engineers and former power company executives is challenging the technical acumen – and wisdom – of China's biggest power distribution firm, State Grid Corp.

Most of the challengers retired long ago; some are more than 90 years old. They come from a variety of backgrounds. But they share opposition to what they say is a threat to national energy security: State Grid's plan to build a nationwide, alternating current, ultra-high voltage (UHVAC) power transmission network.
