Officials Sacked on Data Breach

(Beijing) -- Multiple officials from China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the People's Bank of China were removed from their positions over suspected leaks of economic data.

The newspaper Economic Information cited an insider source as saying several officials in the macro-economic department suspected of illegal data leaks had already been removed from their posts by late March. None of them were high-ranking, but were able to access confidential information.
