Ample Reasons for Another Yuan Growth Spurt
While turmoil over sovereign debt crises roiled markets in Europe and the United States, the value of China's yuan quietly appreciated the week of August 8 for reasons not entirely clear.
Over the course of less than two weeks, the Chinese currency's value rose a significant 0.63 percent against the dollar. The yuan-dollar exchange rate slipped below 6.4 for the first time August 17, closing at 6.3996.
