Proview Shenzhen Insists it Owns IPad Name, Not Banks

(Shenzhen) – The head of Proview Technology (Shenzhen) insists it owns the iPad trademark in China, and the insolvent company has not been placed under bankruptcy protection and lost control of its assets.

Further complicating the trademark dispute involving Apple Inc., the Wall Street Journal reported on March 7 that creditor banks of Proview Shenzhen, including Bank of China, China Minsheng Bank and China Development Bank, issued a joint statement claiming their right to the iPad name. The company, which applied for bankruptcy protection in 2009, owed US$ 400 million to these banks, the report said.
