There is a peculiar pattern in China's financial markets when it comes to investor confidence.

Bank shares are trading at some of the lowest multiples in the market because investors anticipate a resurgence in non-performing loans as commercial banks undergo reforms necessary for economic rebalancing. On the other hand, low-grade bonds underwritten by banks have been sought after even though their yields don't bear much risk premium.
