Amidst Slowdown, Most Chinese Say They're Better Off

(Beijing) -- While Chinese see serious economic and political challenges on the horizon, most said they are in a better financial position compared to five years according to a recent poll on global attitudes.

The survey conducted by the U.S. think tank Pew Research Center found that major concerns among Chinese people include a growing wealth gap, rising prices, pollution and the loss of traditional culture. Based on 3,177 face-to-face interviews from March 18 to April 15, the survey nevertheless found that 70 percent of Chinese say they are better off financially than they were five years ago.
