Corruption is a major issue, yet much of the discussion on the subject has been corrupted. Earlier this week, China Youth Daily stirred the fury of a few well-known academics with reports on a new round of policies to address endemic corruption in academic research institutions. In an attempt to deflect any test of credibility, scholars wrote letters of complaint, and even made doorstop visits to the newspaper's offices, with their central criticisms directed at the academic system as a whole.
