IPO Restart Marred by Halt in Trading

Neway Valve (Suzhou) Co. Ltd., the first company to list on a domestic bourse after a 15-month dry spell, had to suspend trading of its shares in Shanghai for 30 minutes as its price surged by 31.99 percent within two seconds after trading started. It closed at 25.34 yuan per share, up 43.49 percent from the issuing price. A stock exchange rule says the price of new shares can rise by up to 44 percent on their first day.
