Expert Casts Doubt on Beijing's Approach to Reining in Population

(Beijing) – The Beijing city government has proposed using rules focused on the economy to try limiting the size of the capital's population, but one expert has questioned the approach.

One of the policies being mulled in Beijing – pop. 20 million – is known as: "Controlling the population by controlling business categories." Its purpose would be to move activities like production of furniture, building materials and garments outside the city.
