Mark Schwartz: Reason to Be Optimistic on China's Economy

(Beijing) – Many international observers have expressed concern about China's growth after unexpectedly low figures were released for the first two months of the year, but Mark Schwartz, vice chairman of Goldman Sachs Group and chairman of Goldman Sachs Asia Pacific, says he still has confidence in the country's economy.

Schwartz said at a recent forum in the capital that his confidence stems from the fact that the reform roadmap has been laid out and a strategy has been determined. He added that no matter what the growth figure for the year is, China is still likely to be the fastest-growing economy in the world. What is more important, he said, is the country's transformation into a more market-oriented and open economy.
