Closer Look: Prosecutors in Fatal Arson Attack Case Keep Trial Focus Limited

(Qingdao) – A court in Qingdao held a three-day trial from August 20 to 22 over an alleged arson attack in Pingdu, in the eastern province of Shandong, in which one farmer died and three others were injured.

The case has its origins in a land dispute involving residents of Dujiatuan Village. Locals say village authorities secretly sold their farmland to developers in 2006 and told them only last year. They got little in the way of compensation, they say.
