(Beijing) – Abundant coal reserves and decades-long reliance on the mining industry has made Taiyuan, the capital of the northern province of Shanxi, a busy city, crowded with mine owners, traders, brokers and officials. Now, Communist Party anti-graft investigators can be added to the mix.

The city's police system is especially in the spotlight. In recent years, three public security chiefs in Taiyuan have lost their jobs one after another. Little official information has been released, but all have been placed under investigation.
