Letting Foreign Investors Own Hospitals Just the Beginning, Experts Say

(Beijing) – The National Health and Family Planning Commission and the Ministry of Commerce have recently chosen three municipalities – Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai – and four provinces – Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong and Hainan – as pilot areas where foreign investors can fully own a hospital. Elsewhere in the country the limit is 70 percent.
The decision could be a way to permit foreign investors to establish wholly owned hospitals in the country, as the government takes step to open the service sector to foreign investors.
