Top Prosecutor's Office Plans New Body to Better Fight Corruption

(Beijing) – A recent central government decision to set up a special office handling corruption investigations at the Supreme People's Procuratorate is viewed by experts as a step toward an institutional arrangement to root out graft and enhance the role of prosecutors in the field.
The new department will be headed by an official with the rank of deputy minister, said Qiu Xueqiang, a deputy in the country's top prosecutor's office. This means it will have a higher rank than a similar office it is replacing.
